Il Baglio
Luogo simbolo della nostra azienda è il “Baglio”.
Nata nella Sicilia occidentale come “fattoria fortificata”, questa tipologia edilizia si è ampiamente diffusa nell’agro marsalese tra il XVIII e il XIX secolo, parallelamente allo sviluppo dell’economia vitivinicola: il baglio era al contempo dimora delle famiglie contadine e cantina. Il "Mastro di Baglio", depositario di una sapienza antica, tramandata per generazioni, presiedeva a tutto il processo di vinificazione, nel rispetto dei tempi e delle leggi della natura.
The symbol of our company is the “Baglio”, the fortified farmhouse. The “baglio” is typical of western Sicily and many were built in the Marsala countryside between the 18th and the 19th centuries due to the boom of the wine-growing economy. The “Baglio” was at the same time the residence of the owners' families and a winery. The “Mastro di Baglio” was the keeper of an ancient wisdom, handed down for generations; this man directed the entire winemaking process, respecting the times and laws of nature.
